For the Fall-Winter '21 season, we saw plenty of voluminous, balloon sleeves walk down the runway. Although these exaggerated sleeves have been dominating the fashion scene for recent years, this trend just doesn't seem to be deflating anytime soon. They have also made a refreshing appearance on coats, dresses, and jackets for brands like Cult Gaia, Isabel Marant, and Nanushka. Elongated puffs of fabrics such as leather, satin were used, exuding a sense of elegance and sophistication to every outfit.Â

Romantic ruffles and tulles were also seen in full force on runways in all shapes, forms, and fabrics. Especially in Bora Aksu's show, they proposed a range of graceful, crinoline-shaped dresses and skirts enriched in delicate ruffles and frills. Simone Rocha showcased an array of dresses in layered pink tulles, embellished with clusters of satin roses for a dreamy elegance reminiscent of fairy tales.Â

Quilting has become a major fall winter trend as people are focusing more on comfort and functionality. We saw many clothing pieces such as quilted vests, jackets at luxury houses like Raf Simons, Rag & Bone, and Max Mara. Chanel also offers a fresh take on a classic style with a chic all-over logo print quilted jumpsuit, making a sleek fashion statement.Â

According to Miu Miu, Gabriela Hearst, and Balenciaga, next season is all about that warm, fuzzy knitwear. Designers are experimenting with techniques, yarns, and reimagined colorways to deliver their chicest knitwear pieces. Balenciaga showed a capsule of fluoro knitwear pieces in hues of neon yellow and traffic cone orange, while Coach delivered playful knitted sweaters in cartoon graphics.

Although our plans may be on hold, our long-awaited celebratory dreams are not. This season, fashion embraces the new optimism by adding shine and bling to basic pieces, conveying a sign of hope and positivity in tough times. At Versace, models were dressed in glitzy glitter dresses and paired with neon-colored platform pumps. On a shimmery runway, Chanel showcased sparkling suits, crochet skirts shined with panels of sequin fabrics, adding a much-needed colorful shine to the cold and gloomy season.Â
